Apprenticeship Scheme
Here at THD we are committed to the development of bright young people with an interest in design and construction.
We have a tried and tested apprenticeship programme which offers on and off the job training. Earning from day one our apprentices will be on a fast track to a professional qualification while learning the skills to build a career in the industry.
Each year we look to bring on board a new apprentice to join our intense programme that combines study with working. The learning curve will be steep but we expect the trainee to excel in their development and hit the goals set and progress to the next level.
The scheme has been shaped in a way which builds up the apprentice’s knowledge in building design alongside transferable skills like team working and leadership. There is a need for more collaboration and inter disciplinary working in the construction industry; we need people with a broader set of skills and a different education. Through our multi-disciplined practice we can deliver a unique programme that will help forge a career in a variety of roles.
Off the job training will be provided by Newcastle College. Learning is by a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars and design studios. Assessment is by a combination of examinations, coursework, projects and presentations.
We are proud of the achievements made by our apprentices. All have progressed well and they have sailed through their NVQ studies. The hands on, in house training has then allowed the apprentices to advance with ease on to a HNC/HND course.
